Contact with:  A broad range of internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, students, lecturers, Advisory Council Board. 
Purpose of job:  The role will articulate the vision, mission and ethos of the university and inspire and empower internal and external stakeholders and the teaching profession to achieve the vision. The role will lead the growth of three core income streams:

  • Sports Programs
  • Hospitality Programs
  • Artificial Intelligent (AI)
Principle Accountabilities: 

The IT Technician will be required to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, support staff and students, and help ensure that all IT services run reliably and securely. The position also involves proactive maintenance, monitoring network performance, and adhering to data protection and safeguarding standards.

The successful candidate will also be expected to support and provide on-site assistance and contribute to trust-wide IT projects, including teaching. Strong communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.

  • Provide expert-level technical support across a wide range of technologies including servers, networks, cloud platforms, and end-user devices.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to recurring issues.
  • Support and manage infrastructure projects such as server migrations, network upgrades, and cloud deployments.
  • Maintain and improve internal documentation, processes, and knowledge base articles.
  • Deliver on-site support for critical issues and project work as required.
  • Ensure SLAs and KPIs are met consistently, with a focus on customer satisfaction and service quality.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to systems and processes.
  • Support the team in delivering a consistent, high-quality IT service by demonstrating excellent communication skills, including clear written responses and professional telephone etiquette.
  • Monitor existing Service Desk tickets, to ensure they are being dealt with in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure accurate call notes and resolution records are maintained.
  • Provide technical support, including student laptop setup, troubleshooting, and app management.
  • Support the deployment and management of classroom technology and elibrary  equipment.
  • Complete software updates when requested.
  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities, including end-user training tools and documentation.
  • Escalate calls to relevant IT assistant staff and third-party providers when necessary.
  • Assist with the second line maintenance and support of the schools’ networks.
  • Help monitor, evaluate and develop IT resources across the school.
  • Ensure consistent documentation of all network changes made.
  • Participate in regular training and stay updated on emerging technologies.
  • Help maintain a robust and secure IT environment for all site users.
  • Ensure data integrity through a range of measures including antivirus, network backup, replication and network security.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, safeguarding, and cybersecurity policies.
  • Lead IT service delivery, ensuring excellence in uptime, customer service, security and compliance.
  • Line-manage the IT team, providing mentorship, support, and escalation expertise.
  • Translate academic and operational requests into technical solutions and IT strategies.
  • Own IT policies, documentation, standard operating procedures, and ensure regular governance and risk analysis.
  • Prepare and present monthly management reports to senior leadership.
  • Represent IT at the IT Strategy Group and disseminate the IT strategy to the team.


Organisational Planning & Strategy

  • Work with the Executive Leadership Team to shape the organisational business plan, in partnership with programs head and the Council, supported by a clear budget and plan for income generation.
  • Lead the implementation of the strategy, ensuring that KPIs are met / action is taken to course correct, and provide day-to-day guidance and long-term strategic direction for all employees within the University
  • Oversee the University existing and new products and services, ensuring that they are of the highest standard, and are informed by research and impact evaluation


Leadership

  • Advise on the education content of internal and external communications
  • Provide overall accountability and leadership in a range of areas including Teaching, publishing, content, research, accreditation status and other professional learning and partner institutions accreditation status
  • Report to the Council as required and be the Executive Leadership Team representative for relevant committees and ensure they have the reports and data needed to make informed decisions for the College.
  • Provide leadership and development of individuals within the team, including setting clear objectives, responsibilities, performance standards and development goals and managing these accordingly – through informal coaching and feedback and formal discussions including regular one to ones and appraisals
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as directed by managers.
Essential Experience and knowledge Requirements: 
  1. Awareness of and compliance with Health and Safety legislation and policy as relevant to the post.
  2. An understanding of the Ghana Education, Equality and Diversity policies and a commitment to organization growth.
  3. Be committed and adhere to the safety of young and vulnerable adults that we come into contact within our service delivery.
  4. Ability to support staff and students and demonstrate empathy. 
  5. Teaching expertise – experience of working with teachers and higher education, leaders in a range of contexts, ideally with a focus on professional learning
  6. Highly credible, increasingly respected profile (including in public speaking) and a strong network within the education sector
  7. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an IT support role.
  8. A proven track record of delivering high-quality technical support.
  9. Excellent customer-facing skills and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
